About Civizen
Why this exists
Civizen started with a simple problem: preparing for the US naturalization civics test is harder than it needs to be.
When the process began for me personally, the available tools were outdated, cluttered with ads, or just not built for how people actually study. Most of them hadn't caught up with the 2025 USCIS test update — the new format with 128 questions, 20 asked per interview, and a passing threshold of 12 correct answers. So instead of settling, I built something better.
What started as a personal study tool became Civizen — a clean, focused app designed to help anyone preparing for their naturalization interview feel genuinely ready.
What we believe
Becoming a US citizen is a significant milestone. The civics test that stands between you and that moment deserves a preparation tool that takes it seriously — one that actually mirrors how the real interview works, explains what you got wrong, and helps you improve over time.
We believe that tool should be free to start, work in both English and Spanish, and never make you feel lost or overwhelmed.
What Civizen does
Civizen covers both versions of the USCIS civics test:
- 2025 version — for applicants who filed Form N-400 on or after October 20, 2025. Pool of 128 questions, 20 asked, pass with 12 correct.
- 2008 version — for applicants who filed before October 20, 2025. Pool of 100 questions, up to 10 asked, pass with 6 correct.
In study mode, you can go through all the questions as flashcards, filter by topic, and move at your own pace — no pressure, no timer, no wrong answers counting against you.
In test mode, the experience mirrors the real interview as closely as possible. Questions are drawn randomly, the test stops as soon as the outcome is decided (just like the actual interview), and your results show exactly where you stood strong and where you need more practice.
All questions come directly from official USCIS materials. We keep them up to date as answers change due to elections or appointments.
Who it's for
Civizen is for anyone preparing to take the US naturalization civics test — whether your interview is next month or six months away, whether you're more comfortable in English or Spanish, and whether you're starting from scratch or just want to confirm you're ready.
A note on the content
All civics questions and answers in this app are sourced from official USCIS publications. They are government-produced materials not subject to copyright. Civizen is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to USCIS or any US government agency.
