Ciudadania Test

Who Is Civizen For?

Civizen is built for anyone preparing to take the US naturalization civics test. But within that group, there are a few specific situations where this app is especially useful.

You just filed your N-400 and your interview is months away

This is the best time to start. You have time on your side, and a little daily practice now is far more effective than cramming later.

Use Study mode to work through the questions gradually — 10 or 15 minutes a day is enough to build real confidence over a few weeks. By the time your interview date arrives, the material will feel familiar rather than overwhelming.

You have an interview date and need to get serious

If your interview is coming up soon, Test mode is where you should focus. Take a practice test, see your results, identify the topics where you're weakest, and drill those in Study mode. Repeat until you're passing consistently.

The practice test mirrors the real interview format exactly — same question count, same pass threshold, same early-stop mechanic. Passing a few practice tests in a row is a good sign you're ready.

You're more comfortable in Spanish

Civizen is fully bilingual. Every question and answer is available in both English and Spanish, and you can switch languages at any time.

That said, the actual USCIS civics test is conducted in English — the officer will ask questions and expect answers in English. Civizen's bilingual toggle lets you study in Spanish while also practicing how the questions and answers sound in English, so you're prepared for both.

If you qualify for the senior exemption (see below), you may take the test in the language of your choice.

You're 65 or older with 20+ years as a permanent resident

You qualify for the 65/20 senior exemption, which significantly reduces what you need to study.

Instead of the full question pool, you only need to know the 20 questions marked with a star (★) in the official USCIS materials. During your interview, the officer will ask 10 of those 20, and you need to answer 6 correctly to pass. You may also take the test in the language of your choice.

Civizen marks all senior exemption questions clearly, so you can filter your study sessions to focus only on those 20 questions — no time wasted on material that won't be on your test.

You want to help a family member or friend prepare

Civizen works just as well as a shared study tool. You can go through flashcards together, quiz each other using the question list, or have a family member run through the practice test to see how they score.

Creating a free account lets you track progress and see which questions still need work — useful if you're helping someone prepare over several weeks.

You're a teacher or community educator

If you run citizenship preparation classes — at a library, community center, adult education program, or anywhere else — Civizen can support your students' independent study outside of class.

The app covers the full 2025 and 2008 question pools, explains the test format clearly, and is free to use without an account. Students can work through flashcards and take practice tests on their own schedule.

What Civizen is not

Civizen is a civics test preparation tool. It is not a legal service, an immigration consultant, or an official USCIS resource.

It does not help with filling out the N-400 application, scheduling your interview, preparing for the personal questions portion of the interview (such as questions about your background, travel history, or moral character), or any other part of the naturalization process beyond the civics test.

For guidance on the full naturalization process, visit uscis.gov/citizenship.
